Workshop Overview
Target Audience:
The target audience is Physicians, Pharmacists, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Dentists, Social Workers, Addiction Counsellors, and other healthcare professionals are encouraged to attend.
Overall Workshop Learning Objectives:
At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Analyze patient information to assess and advocate for suitable harm reduction and treatments, such as Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT), tailored to the needs and circumstances of individuals with a substance use disorder.
- Formulate and evaluate patient-centred treatment plans for initiating and maintaining OAT, considering best practices and interdisciplinary inputs while addressing potential challenges and solutions.
- Identify gaps in the continuity of care during transitions between community, correctional, or acute care settings and formulate strategies to enhance care continuity, thereby reducing the risk of relapse.
- Assess the complexities presented by co-morbid conditions in SUD cases, such as pregnancy or concurrent disorders, and develop integrated, comprehensive treatment approaches that consider multi-disciplinary perspectives and modalities.
