Practical Approaches to Delivering Hep C Care

Target Audience:
Family physicians, specialist physicians, medical resident, nurses, and nurse practitioners.
All other allied healthcare professionals are encouraged to attend.

Learning Objectives:
At the end of this activity, participants will be able to:
  • Order and interpret labs for Hep C diagnosis
  • Review considerations for treatment initiation and medication selection
  • Understand common barriers to Hep C treatment
  • Discuss approaches to improve access and uptake of Hep C therapy

Lesley began her work as a Hepatitis C Clinical Research Nurse, in the Downtown Eastside (DTES) of Vancouver in 2003. In 2013, Lesley relocated to Saskatchewan to assist Dr. Kris Stewart in developing a Hepatitis C treatment program in Saskatoon, for patients living in the city and in the northern, rural regions of the province.  Lesley continues to work as a Hepatitis C Nurse Clinician in Vancouver and in Saskatoon, for the Saskatchewan Infectious Disease Care Network (SIDCN). Lesley is an active member of the Canadian Association of Hepatology Nurses (CAHN). She is on the steering committee for Action Hepatitis Canada and a Board of Director for CATIE.  Lesley is also a member of the Canadian education committee for the International Network on Hepatitis in Substance Users (INHSU), assisting with the development of teaching modules and facilitating HCV education training sessions for general practitioners and nurse practitioners.
