The STEPS program provides coordination and preparation of requests to SK Drug Plan on behalf of physicians and nurse practitioners who want to be become recognized as a Designated ARV (HIV) and/or DAA (Hep C) Treatment Prescriber for Saskatchewan.
Why become a Designated ARV and/or DAA Prescriber?
- To ensure automatic ARV and/or DAA medication cost coverage for patients who are covered under SK Drug Plan.
- ARV and DAA prescriptions written by non-designated prescribers are not eligible for online adjudication at pharmacies.
Please Note:
- Patients covered under non-insured health benefits (NIHB) will have their ARV/DAA drug costs covered without the need for a prescriber to be recognized as a Designated ARV/DAA Prescriber through SK Drug Plan.
- You do not need approval from the STEPS program to prescribe ARV and/or DAA medications; rather the STEPS program is able to assist with coordinating the SK Drug Plan's requirement of listing an Infectious Diseases specialist on your request.
