The STBBI Virtual Classroom delivers live presentations to healthcare providers in Saskatchewan, featuring local experts who share up-to-date information on STBBI testing, treatment, management, and prevention. Presentations highlight Saskatchewan-specific resources and allow participants to ask questions. Recordings are available for all registrants. Past presentations may be accesssed via the online STEPS Portal (see Past Presentatons section below).

HIV Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) Made Practical: Indications, Prescribing, and New Provincial Supports

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Assess and manage patients following blood and body fluid exposure (BBFE), including determining when HIV PEP is indicated.
  • Prescribe HIV PEP according to Saskatchewan guidelines.
  • Implement appropriate follow-up care, including required bloodwork and monitoring.
  • Apply the new Saskatchewan BBFE Practitioner Order Sets and use the Firstline app to support decision-making in emergency and urgent care settings.

  • Identify and integrate provincial resources and online tools, such as Firstline, into clinical practice to enhance syphilis care across Saskatchewan.

Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) Update: What’s New and What’s Next in HIV Treatment

  • Apply current first-line antiretroviral therapy (ART) recommendations in clinical practice.
  • Integrate recent updates on bictegravir/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide(Biktarvy) and long-acting injectable cabotegravir/rilpivirine (Cabenuva) into patient care.
  • Recognize emerging therapies such as lenacapavir (Sunlenca) and their potential future role in HIV treatment and prevention
