Dr. Shannon MacPhee

Dr. Shannon MacPhee graduated from medical school at Dalhousie University in 1999.  She did her Pediatric residency and Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada.  Dr. MacPhee was recruited to IWK Health which is a tertiary care women’s and children’s hospital in 2005 and is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine.  Dr. MacPhee served as Chief of Emergency Medicine at IWK Health from 2009-2018.  Dr. MacPhee also takes an interest in patient safety and has served in roles such as Medical Advisory Committee Chair and currently serves is the Medical Director, Patient Safety Program, IWK Health.  Shannon is the Atlantic Nodal Leader for Translating Emergency Knowledge for Kids (TREKK) and serves as Co-Chair of the TREKK Knowledge Mobilization Advisory Committee.  Her research interests include discharge communication and transitions in care.  She has a busy family with three teenagers and a fluffy new puppy!
