Course Overview
The Saskatchewan Ministry of Health, Medical Services Branch (MSB), in collaboration with the Saskatchewan Medical Association (SMA) and the Division of Continuing Medical Education (CME), College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan, have partnered to develop the Physician Billing Online Course. This course provides physicians, medical office assistants, and other healthcare professionals with foundational knowledge and practical tools to navigate the Physician Payment Schedule, submit accurate claims, and ensure compliance with billing requirements in Saskatchewan.
Online Modules:
The Physician Billing course offers detailed information in the following areas:
Module 1: Introduction to Medical Services Branch & Legislative Billing Obligations
Module 2: Claim Submission and Reconciliation
Module 3: Interpretation and Application of Service Codes and Billing Criteria
Module 4: Documentation Requirements
Module 5: Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Utilization
Module 6: Payment Integrity - Audit
Modules include practical case examples that walk you through how to approach different billing situations. You’ll also have access to a downloadable PDF with key resources. Each module ends with a short quiz to check your understanding.
